Wizard of Odds Journal Class
Join me in an adventure in upcycling to the Wizard of Odds, inspired by the classic movie and book. We will transform everyday junk mail into a fantastical art journal with magical windows and other surprises.
This class is for art journalists of all levels. You will learn not only how to assemble the discarded mail together but then how to transform it into a fun themed journal. We will use a simple supply list and our imaginations to create our own versions of the wonderful characters made classic by L. Frank Baum "The Wizard of Oz'.

Wizard of Odds Supply List
Miscellaneous junk mail (envelopes with plastic windows, envelopes without windows, letter sized mail from inside envelopes, junk mail post cards, etc.)
Paints: I'm using Anita brand craft paints in black, white, coffee, grey, red, gold, turquoise or light blue, olive green, kelly green, emerald green, other greens you want or have). Other craft paint brands will work fine, but stay away from finer art paints especially heavy body paints.
Blending Medium: Liquitex Matt Medium, fluid medium and Liquitex Matte Gel (we won’t use much of this so don’t go buy them)
White glue (Tacky or any PVC glue)
Small detail scissors
Masking Tape
Gesso
Brushes: assortment of small brushes
Paint roller (Speedball is what I'm using)
Heat gun: optional, but speeds up the process
Waxed Linen
Large eyed needle
Awl or something to pierce the pages
Paper towels and baby wipes
Old credit card
Pens: Sharpie poster paint water based in extra fine and fine; Signo uniball white gel pen (UM-120AC.1); Micron 05 and 08 Archival ink pen; Posca (PC-3M) Paint Pen Set
Charcoal pencil in soft
Charcoal blending stick (optional)
White Charcoal pencil or white watercolor pencils
Water spritzer
Wax Paper
