July HAL Shows

I am excited to be the July Visiting Artist at the Huntsville Art League(HAL) off L&N drive. Part of my work including sculpture, jewelry mixed media and art journaling, is on display all this month at the HAL gallery. If that wasn't exciting enough, my Monsters and Mechanical's art journal was published in the latest issue of Somerset Studio’s ART Journaling magazine.

The artist’s reception is Friday, July 19th from 5-8pm. Wood’s art will also be on display during the summer Gallery Tour at HAL July 25th from 5-9pm.

I would love to see you at one of the openings or in one of my  art journaling or jewelry classes there this summer. www.huntsvilleartleague.org for class registration and more information on the upcoming events.

Art Work at Albany Bistro in Decatur

I dropped off some Deadly Sin girls to the coolest little bistro in the area.  Albany Bistro contacted me about hanging some artwork and I took some by Friday.  If you haven't been by there you need to go. The place is charming, the atmosphere is relaxing, the food is wonderful, and now my paintings are there. :)

On another note, I've been getting prints of some of my paintings and journals together to sale.  They are almost ready!  Stayed tuned and keep checking back.

On my children's book , I'm going to submit my first query this weekend.  Probably be my first rejection too, but you have to start somewhere, right.? I know in my heart, that this book will get published, even if I publish it myself.

Exciting News and Gallery Tours

So in addition to being in the middle of my Monster book, and finishing up the pages for that; and researching publishers out there to figure out where to submit, I was asked to put some of my jewelry and paintings at the very cool 16 Main Gallery in Madison, AL.  Miss Apathy is there along with some of her friends and a good assortment of my jewelry and t-shirts.  They also have some wonderful art there from their other artists. I'm even planning some classes there for this coming fall!  Maybe even a kid's monster class!

So Thursday, July 26, 2012 is the 20th Annual Gallery Tour in the Huntsville area.  The local galleries, along with the Huntsville Museum of Art will be open for you to come visit and see the latest art in the area.  My good friend Everett Cox will be doing two bronze pours in his foundry at Lowe Mill.  So come out and check it out.

Leaving this post with a new monster I just finished for my book.

Welcome Back...

 lucy sm

I have been neglecting my blog in a major way.  It hasn't been intentional, I just got busy I guess.  Also went through a art slump where I wasn't making much art.  But it's a new day and a new blog post.  Since my last post I have been playing in watercolors, doing online classes, starting new blogs, finished my google eyed journal (which I'll post in a video), oh and yeah, doing some video recording of some art.  Just playing really and trying to figure it out.   But today's post is going to be about Miss Lucy, my newest Saint.  You can read about her here on wikipedia.  If she feels a bit solemn it's because I was having trouble getting out of an artistic block, so she got me out.
